Rapid wheat demand growth has also, of course, increased Africa's importance on the world stage — the continent accounted for 29% of the world's wheat trade in 200708 and by 202728 Bunge estimates its share will reach 33%, with subSahara consumption totaling 40 million tonnes, up from just 20 million tonnes in 200910.
