Composition and Classification. The major difference between these classes is the amount of calcium, silica, alumina, and iron content in the ash. Class F fly ash is produced by burning anthracite and bituminous coal and it comprises silicon dioxide, aluminium oxide and iron oxide to 70 % and has pozzolanic properties.
