The stone age can be divided into two phases: Paleolithic (old stone age) and Neolithic (new stone age). During the Paleolithic, humans lived as nomadic huntergatherers. During the Neolithic, humans adopted settled agricultural life. The Neolithic age was first reached ca. 10,000 BC, by Mesopotamia.
